Tree Cutting on Mountain View Drive

  • by

Tom Gore rallied the neighbors for some tree work on Mountain View Drive. Assuming the weather will cooperate, he is planning a second event to finish the cutting on the south end of the road in the coming weeks. Thank you, Tom!

Here is his note:

The following group of members assembled Sunday,  10/30 at 10:30 a.m. to cut trees and brush as previously discussed at MVSA membership meetings.  Dave Wing, Gregg Conlan, Bob Decolfmacker, Joe and Diane Cedrone, Tracy Gaudet’s mother, Pam and I began cutting at the north end of the road, and cut all marked trees along approximately 1/2 of the road. The work took about 3 1/2 hours.

The purpose of the work was to clear trees from the edges of the road which would prove detrimental to the road or travel on the road.  We cut trees which we could cut without interfering with power lines.  Most cutting occurred along the east side of the road.  Later in the afternoon, I removed the brush from the cut trees and deposited it at the north end of the tennis court. This work will save MVSA a considerable sum of money because these trees would eventually have to be cut by professional  arborists if not cut now.  This is the first brush removal effort made since the ice storm of 1997.

The weather was great, everybody had a good time and nobody got hurt.  MVSA owes the participants a thank you for their effort.

Several of the participants expressed an interest in continuing the effort.  To this end, if we have another great weekend before snow flies, I will attempt to assemble another team to finish the cutting on the south end of the road.

Regards,   Tom Gore
